Over the past 9 months ISIS has been speaking to local people in Brentford about how to redevelop the Commerce Road waterside area (Brentford Lock West). Following a number of design workshops with local people during September, October and November 2009, the design team have now prepared an ‘Emerging Development Framework’ which is based on the ideas and feedback generated during these local workshops. This leaflet explains the emerging development framework for Brentford Lock West.
This document is intended to be a record of the workshops and the comments made over the two evenings.
In addition this document will also provide an opportunity to keep those who attended the workshops and drop-in session over the two days informed and involved in the process we are undertaking.
Isis recently held ‘Design for Change’ evening workshops to discuss Brentford’s waterside regeneration on 30 Sept and 1 Oct at Grounds Cafe. At this event, local people came up with 4 ‘design options’ for the area. These options have now been drawn up and will be the subject of discussion at our next community event on Thursday 26 November 6-9pm at the Holiday Inn, Brentford Lock

The comment re: historical usage / relation to the canal is, however, inaccurate. It has entirely overlooked the importance of the Fellows Morton Clayton Dock at the southern extremity of the Commerce Road area, apparently unaware that transhipment took place across the towpath via cranes all the way down, which photographic evidence attests to.
