Brentford Community Council (BCC) is an independent organisation established in 1989 with start-up support from Hounslow Borough Council. Since 1999 we have been financially independent, funded by donations from organisations and individuals across the community.
Our mission is to represent the general interests of the area with any person or agency providing services or undertaking activities affecting the local environment and well-being of people living in the area, specifically related to local planning applications and planning issues. We are non-party political. The group is open to anyone who would like to get actively involved in the BCC or would like to bring an issue to our attention.
Monica Robb sadly passed away recently. Those of us who were members from the time in 1988 when Hounslow Council set up the BCC will remember her as our first secretary.
In those days our planning committee was chaired by Bert Stern (the father of Nic, who pioneered action to slow Global Warming) with my support and her organisational skills. We were then helped by council officers and our views were reported directly to the Council's planning committee.
Monica was an invaluable part of our team. Without her enthusiasm and efficient ways our new organisation would never have survived. As it was the BCC was the only one of the many Community Councils set up that year which is still going.
After some years Monica moved on to work with HACAN, where she was an essential part of their team, who continued the fight against the expansion of Heathrow for many years.
Monica was always at the centre of Brentford concerns. She was constantly on the phone keeping in touch with everyone and she knew how to bring people together to help our community. Monica was indomitable. She will be sadly missed.
